Yair “El Pantera” Rodriguez (11-2-0 1NC) and Jeremy “Lil’ Heathen” Stephens (28-16-0 1NC) meet in a Featherweight bout at TD Garden in Boston on Saturday night.
The highly anticipated meeting between these two was originally scheduled to take place last month in Mexico City, but the fight was stopped and declared a No Contest after just 15 seconds after Stephens was unable to continue after receiving an accidental poke in the eye from Rodriguez.
The Mexican (who fights out of Chicago) dramatically beat Chan Sung “The Korean Zombie” Jung in his fight previous to that in November 2018. Although losing on the judges’ scorecards, 27 year-old Rodriguez connected with an elbow in the last second of the fifth and final round to claim the victory.
The 33 year-old Jeremy Stephens from Des Moines, Iowa has lost his last two fights, with the latest being by Unanimous Decision to the Russian Zabit Magomedsharipov in Las Vegas in March. Before that he was beaten by Brazilian legend José Aldo via KO at 4:19 of Round 1 in Calgary in July of last year.

Jeremy Stephens is a formidable striker and might only need one opportunity to win the fight, but we’ll take Rodriguez as the tip here.
