The Winnipeg Jets (10-5-1) take on the reigning Stanley Cup holders, the Washington Capitals (7-6-3) at Bell MTS Place on Wednesday night.
The Jets come into this game on the back of a solid 5-2 win at home to the New Jersey Devils on Sunday evening, in which Mark Scheifele scored two goals and also provided an assist.
The Jets are averaging 3.19 Goals per Game, leaving them 13th in the overall NHL standings. They are only allowing 2.63 Goals per Game, which leaves them 6th in the overall standings.
The Caps were in action at the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday evening (result unknown at time of writing), but they lost their previous two games on home-ice to the Columbus Blue Jackets (2-1) and then the Arizona Coyotes (4-1).
Nicklas Backstrom scores for the Caps against the Coyotes, while goaltender Braden Holtby has saved 18 of 21 shots. Few preseason NHL predictions would have thought the Caps would occupy 6th position in the Metropolitan Division at this stage of the season.
The Caps are averaging 3.31 Goals per Game to leave them 8th in the overall standings. Defensively they are allowing 3.44 Goals per Game, which places them 26th.
However, the Jets are favourites on the Money Line NHL betting odds and with home-ice advantage and form on their side, they are the picks to take the points here.
