The Winnipeg Jets (3-1-2) take on the Arizona Coyotes (1-0-4) at Bell MTS Place on Saturday afternoon.
It’s not been the most consistent of starts to the season for the Winnipeg Jets, with their record not helped by Tuesday’s 5-4 OT loss at Bell MTS Place against the Edmonton Oilers, particularly as they seemingly had the game won when leading 4-1 going into the 3rd period.
They will also be disappointed that they are only recording an average of 2.50 Goals per Game at present (23rd in the overall NHL standings). Defensively they are allowing 2.67 goals per game, which is a more encouraging 21st overall.
The Jets are also in action against the Vancouver Canucks at Bell MTS Place on the Thursday evening prior to this game. That’s a game in which they will be determined to return to winning ways before meeting the Coyotes.
Few predictions envisaged anything other than a season of struggle for the Coyotes and a record of 1-0-4 is large as anticipated. Their only win to date was a 3-2 victory at the Anaheim Ducks courtesy of a Shootout goal from Nick Cousins.
The Coyotes also have a woeful 0.6 Goals per Game average this season (leaving them 31st and last in the overall standings), although they are only allowing 2.20 Goals per Game at the other end (which is a far more impressive 28th overall).
The Jets will expect to beat the Coyotes with relative ease and the NHL betting odds are certain to point to this being a relatively comfortable home victory, so they are the tips in this one.
