Tottenham Hotspur plays defending English Premier League champions and current league leaders Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on Monday evening, in what promises be a hugely entertaining game of soccer.
Tottenham goes into the weekend’s Premier League action in 5th position but, with just two points separating the top five teams at present, victory over Man. City would see them leap above their opponents in the table.
The big concern for Tottenham is that they have a number of injuries to contend with in what is a relatively small squad. On the plus side, key playmaker Christian Eriksen was due to play at least a part in Tottenham’s midweek Champions League game and England midfielder Dele Alli could be due to feature against City.
The other problem for Tottenham is that City are just beginning to find their best form, having thrashed Burnley 5-0 at the weekend and then won 3-0 away to Shakhtar Donetsk in Champions League action in the week in what coach Pep Guardiola described as the best his team had played in his time at the club.
The betting odds favour a win for City and they are the obvious tips, with bet365* offering -125 in the ‘Match Result’ market. However, given the attacking instincts of both teams, a better option might be to look at the ‘Match Result & Both Teams To Score’ (BTTS) lines, where Manchester City can be backed at +210 with William Hill.
For that bet to win, Manchester City would need to win the game, but Tottenham would also have to score at least one goal in defeat, e.g. City could win 2-1, 3-1, 4-2, etc.
Pick: Match Result & ‘BTTS’ – Manchester City @ +210 (William Hill)
