The Toronto Maple Leafs (27-12-2) go up against the Nashville Predators (25-15-3) at the Scotiabank Arena on Monday evening.
After suffering back-to-back losses on home-ice to the New York Islanders and Minnesota Wild, the Maple Leafs then got back to winning ways at the Scotiabank Arena with a 5-0 rout of the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night.
The Maple Leafs are currently averaging 3.71 Goals per Game, which leaves them 2nd in the overall NHL rankings. Defensively they are allowing 2.76 Goals per Game, which puts them in 6th position overall. On an individual basis, John Tavares has 27 goals for the Maple Leafs to date, while Mitch Marner has recorded 40 assists.
The Predators also come into this game on the back of a victory, having won 4-1 on the road at the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday evening.
The Predators only average a fairly modest 3.02 Goals per Game, which leaves them 13th overall in the current NHL overall standings. Defensively they are top dogs though, with them only allowing 2.51 Goals per Game to leave them in 1st position overall. On an individual player basis, Craig Smith is the leading scorer for the Predators with 14 goals, while Ryan Johansen leads the way in terms of assists, with 28 to date.
Both of these teams can be viewed as having genuine hopes of winning the Stanley Cup in 2019, which doesn’t make predicting the outcome any easier. However, the Maple Leafs have a slightly better overall record this season and certainly possess a greater goal threat. With home-ice advantage, they are the best bet on the Money Line odds in this one.
