The Toronto Maple Leafs (8-3-0) take on the Calgary Flames (5-5-1) at the Scotiabank Arena on Monday evening.
After a couple of losses on home ice to the Pittsburgh Penguins (3-0) and St. Louis Blues (4-1), the Maple Leafs have returned to winning ways with wins on the road (4-2) and on home-ice (3-2) against the Winnipeg Jets. They showed commendable spìrit in recovering from two goals in arrears in the 3rd period to secure victory against the Jets last time out.
The Maple Leafs are now averaging 3.73 Goals per Game, leaving them 3rd in the overall NHL standings, although Auston Matthews is due a goal on an individual basis. They are allowing 3.09 Goals per Game.
The Flames come into this game on the back of three straight losses, including a humiliating 9-1 defeat at home to the Pittsburgh Penguins. They put in a better showing at the Scotiabank Arena against the Washington Capitals on Saturday, but still ultimately lost 4-3 after the shootout.
The Flames are averaging 3.27 Goals per Game (12th in the overall NHL standings) while allowing 3.55 Goals per Game (10th overall).
The Money Line betting odds certainly favour the Maple Leafs following their return to winning form, coupled with the Flames hitting a losing streak. The attacking qualities of the Maple Leafs are such that they should have too much firepower against a team who have been leaking goals of late.
Most hockey predictions in this game will be backing the Maple Leafs to claim the points and they have to be the tip to justify that faith in them.
