Tony “Super Bad” Harrison (28-2-0) puts his WBC junior middleweight belt on the line against Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (32-1-0) at the Toyota Arena, Ontario in California on Saturday night.
This fight is a rematch of the one almost exactly a year ago, when Charlo lost his WBC title to Harrison by unanimous decision (116-112, 115-113 and 115-113).
With Harrison pulling out of the rematch in June (after suffering an inner and outer right ankle sprain that included torn ligaments), Charlo instead fought replacement Jorge Cota, whom he KO’d in the third round to return to winning ways.
The first encounter saw Jermell Charlo as the aggressor for most of the bout, although he failed to cut down the ring and enabled Harrison to score points with the accuracy of his jabs and straights whilst Charlo was largely restricted to hooks and uppercuts at a lower percentage.
On this occasion we can expect Charlo to try and cut the ring down more efficiently and go with his jab more frequently than in the first fight.
