Tennys Sandgren vs Vasek Pospisil Prediction & Betting Odds - US Open Preview

Tennys Sandgren will play Vasek Pospisil in the 2nd round of the US Open on Thursday, with both players looking to build on impressive wins in the 1st round of the tournament.

The American World ranked no. 72, Sandgren reached the 2nd round after recovering from losing the opening two sets to beat the veteran Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 1-6 6-7 6-4 7-6 7-5.

The 28 year-old Sandgren’s best result of the season to date was in winning the title in Auckland, where he beat Cameron Norrie in the final 6-4 6-2.

Pospisil claimed a significant scalp in beating ninth seed Karen Khachanov, 4-6 7-5 7-5 4-6 6-3, in the first round.

The 29 year-old Canadian currently has a low World Ranking of 216, although that’s largely a result of a lengthy injury absence. In January this year, Pospisil underwent surgery to repair a herniated disk. His recovery from the surgery kept him sidelined until the Wimbledon Championships, where he lost in the first round to fellow Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Sandgren and Pospisil have played each other once previously, with Pospisil winning 7-6 6-2 in qualification for the 2018 China Open.
