The Swedes go into the play-offs as the only team with a 100% record remaining in this year’s tournament, having beaten defending champions Finland (3-2 in OT), Switzerland (5-2), Kazakhstan (6-2) and, on New Year’s Eve, Slovakia (6-2).
Alexander Holtz scored twice for Sweden against Slovakia, with the other goals coming from Albin Eriksson, Philip Broberg, Oscar Back, and Samuel Fagemo. Victor Soderstrom and Jonatan Berggren each had two assists apiece and Hugo Alnefelt made 16 saves.
The Czechs won their opening Group B game against Russia, but the lost the next three to Germany, the USA and, on New Year’s Eve, 7-2 to Canada. The game was effectively over after the Canadians scored four power-play goals in the first period though.
Vojtech Strondala and Libor Zabransky scored the Czech goals against Canada, while Lukas Parik made five saves from nine shots before going off injured. His replacement, Nick Malik, made 19 stops.

The Czechs will get the usual excellent passionate vocal backing from the home supporters, but if Sweden can get through the opening early stages of the game unscathed and perhaps score the first goal, they have to be our IIHF tips with regards to betting predictions for this game.
