The legendary Serena Williams faces rising Canadian teenage star Bianca Andreescu in the final of the WTA Toronto (aka the Rogers Cup) at the Aviva Centre in Toronto on Sunday afternoon.

Three-times Rogers Cup champion Williams accounted for Czech qualifier Marie Bouzkova in her semi-final on Saturday, having beaten the new world no. 1 Naomi Osaka of Japan 6-3, 6-4 in the last eight, in what was a repeat of last year’s US Open final.

Andreescu beat the American Sofia Kenin 6-4 7-6 (7-5) on her fifth match point on Saturday to become the first Canadian woman to reach the final of the tournament since 1969.

It was Andreescu’s first two-set victory of the week and her return to action in Toronto comes after missing the last few months with a shoulder injury.

The unseeded 19 year-old from Mississauga has already accounted for Dutch fifth seed Kiki Bertens in the last 16 and Czech third seed Karolina Pliskova in the quarter-finals.
