Russia will meet the USA at the Ondrej Nepela Arena in Bratislava on Thursday afternoon (local time) in the quarter-final stage of the IIHF World Championship 2019.
The Russians were hugely impressive during the group stage, being the only team at the 2019 IIHF World Championship to come through it with a perfect 100% record on the back of seven straight wins.
In doing so they also outscored their opponents 36-7 and in their final group game they ensured top spot by defeating the two-time defending champions Sweden 7-4. It could have been even more emphatic against the Swedes, with Russia leading 6-1 going into the third period before easing up. It’s little wonder that Russia are the outright favourites to win the trophy at +150 with Sports Interaction.
That’s not to say that the game against the USA will be a walkover though. The USA finished fourth in their group, but were only beaten twice in a closely fought group in seven games, losing their opening game 4-1 to host nation Slovakia who were clearly running high on adrenaline at that stage and then their final game when they went down 3-0 to a Canadian team on top of their game at both ends of the rink.

Russia vs USA Betting Lines & Pick
When it comes to IIHF betting picks, the USA will certainly look to raise their game against Russia, but they are up against a very strong team indeed and the betting market certainly favours the Russians.
On the Money Line at Sports Interaction, Russia are -343, while the odds on the USA are +310 at Betway Sports. Russia should win, but those IIHF odds are a little on the short side.
The value bet here could be on ‘Total Goals Over/Under 5.5’, with the Overs bet available at -125 with bet365 and that is the bet for us.
