The Houston Rockets (21-15) will enter Thursday night’s game with the Warriors riding a pretty hot hand. After beating the Grizzlies on New Year’s Eve, they improved their current win streak to five games (and ten of their last 11).
The Golden State Warriors (25-13) won their second in a row with a blow out victory over the Suns on New Year’s Eve. But over their last ten, they are only 6-4.
James Harden has been leading the way for the Rockets having scored 35+ points in his last eight games. He will likely need to make it nine in a row to beat Golden State, especially with Chris Paul and Eric Gordon out with injuries.
The Warriors enter the game relatively healthy—which will make the task of defending Harden a little less daunting. But they may not be too worried about stopping Harden when they know he will not have a ton of help. If they can get Kevin Durant and Steph Curry hitting shots early, the Rockets could be in trouble.
Spread: Warriors by 8.5
The Warriors have not been playing consistently good basketball in recent weeks. But they should be able to get their offence on track against Houston’s improving-but-still-suspect defence. James Harden will keep the Rockets from getting blown out and Golden State from covering the spread.
With these two offensive powerhouses, take the over.
Money line: Rockets +295.00; Warriors -400.00
It is hard to go against the Warriors even when they are not bringing their ‘A’ game every night. Houston will make it interesting but take the Warriors to win.
