The Toronto Raptors (42-16) will enter Wednesday night’s game against the Washington Wizards (24-33) riding a five-game winning streak and looking to make it six. Washington will be looking to avoid the season sweep having lost to Toronto three times already.
Over the last week (five games), the Wizards have been one of the more productive offences in the league (124.1 points/game). However, at the same time, their defence has been atrocious (rating of 121.8; 27th in the league).
Toronto only had four games in the last week. Their overall play has been much like it has been all season, good on both ends of the court (defensive rating of 107.2; eighth in the league; 117.3 points/game on offence; ninth).
Washington has won two of three since adding Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker at the trade deadline. Marc Gasol, Toronto’s trade deadline addition, scored 11 points in the fourth to help the Raptors beat Brooklyn Monday night.
Spread: Raptors by 11
Washington has kept it close in two of three games against Toronto, but this will not be one of them. It will be close, but Toronto will cover the spread.
Washington has been one of the higher scoring teams in the league over the last week but one of the worst defensive teams. While the Raptors defence might slow down the Wizards, Toronto’s offence is good enough to pick up the slack.
Take the over.
Money line: Raptors -715; Wizards +500
Washington will not make it easy, but the Raptors are simply a better team. Take Toronto to win.
