Top Canadian player Milos Raonic will play Prajnesh Gunneswaran in the opening round of the Men’s singles at Wimbledon this year. The game is scheduled for 3pm (local time) on Monday afternoon.
Gunneswaran is currently the top ranked Indian singles player at 91 in the world at present. Although 29 years-old, he was a late developer in terms of his tennis career and only qualified for the main draw in his first Grand Slam event at this year’s Australian Open, where he lost in the first round in straight sets to Frances Tiafoe of the USA.
At the French Open he went straight into the main draw through his ranking, but again suffered a straight sets loss in the first round to Bolivia’s Hugo Dellien.
Milos Raonic, who is seeded 15th at this year’s Championships, he was runner-up at the 2016 Wimbledon Championships and has two Grand Slam semi-final appearances to his name at the 2014 Wimbledon Championships and 2016 Australian Open.
The 28-year-old Raonic comes into Wimbledon in good shape, having been a quarter-finalist at the Australian Open at the start of the year and also reaching the last eight at Queen’s Club in the build-up to Wimbledon.
With one of the strongest serves in the men’s tennis and an all-court game that’s ideally suited to playing short points on grass, Raonic is very much at home at Wimbledon.
Prajnesh Gunneswaran vs Milos Raonic Betting Lines & Pick
There’s a vast gulf in top-level experience between these players and under the circumstances, it’s difficult to see much hope for Gunneswaran in terms of tennis predictions in this match.
Those are somewhat prohibitive odds on Raonic, so it could pay to back him in ‘Set Betting’ to ease into the second round with a win in straight sets (i.e. 3-0) at -200 (1.50) with Betway Sportsbook. That’s the tip in this match.
