Series Update – The Houston Rockets edged past the Utah Jazz 100-93 on Wednesday night to win their Western Conference first-round playoff series 4-1.
It’s the third straight season that the Rockets have reached the second round and they will now face the winner of the Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Clippers series.
James Harden scored 26 points for the Rockets. Clint Capela, who had trouble breathing in the Game 4 loss, scored 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Royce O’Neal came off the bench to lead Utah with 18 points. Donovan Mitchell had a disappointing game for the Jazz on the back of his 31 points in Game 4, managing jut 12 points and missing all nine of his 3-point attempts.
Game 5 Update – Utah Jazz staved off elimination for another game at least in beating the Houston Rockets 107-91 in Game 4 of their Western Conference playoff on Monday night.to cut Houston’s lead in the series to 3-1.
Donovan Mitchell scored 31 points for the Jazz, 19 of which came in the final quarter. Jae Crowder scored 23 points, Ricky Rubio added 18 points and 11 assists and Derrick Favors provided a further 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Houston were led by James Harden with 30 points, while Chris Paul added 23 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
Clint Capela had a limited impact for the Rockets after battling a virus.
Game 5 is set to take place in Houston on Wednesday.

Game 4 Update – The Houston Rockets won a hard-fought contest 104-101 over the Utah Jazz to open up a 3-0 lead in their first-round playoff series.
The Rockets won despite shooting 38.4% from the field and 67.6% from the line. A largely misfiring James Harden scored 14 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter for the Rockets.
Although the Jazz led most of the game, they never did so by more than eight points. They missed six free throws in the first four minutes of the second half.
Donovan Mitchell scored 34 points for the Jazz, but struggled with his shooting, making just 9 of 27 attempts.
Game 4 is on Monday night in Utah.
Game 3 Update – Houston Rockets recorded another convincing rout over the Utah Jazz to go 2-0 up in the Western Conference 1st Round best-of-seven series.
Wednesday night’s 118-98 win was led by James Harden, who put on an MVP performance with 32 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.
Utah got 17 points each from Ricky Rubio and Royce O’Neale and the Jazz shot just 39.8% in Game 2, having shot 39% in Game 1.
Houston, which had 17 3s, has made at least 15 3-pointers in 11 straight games.
The series now moves to Utah on Saturday for Game 3, with the Jazz already in desperate need of a win.
Game 2 Update – James Harden scored 29 points and 10 assists as the c 122-90 in the opener of the Western Conference 1st Round best-of-seven series.
Rudy Gobert had 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Jazz, but the visitors went long stretches without scoring.
It’s the second consecutive year the teams have met in the postseason after the Rockets eliminated Utah in five games in the 2nd round last season.
Clint Capela played for the Rockets despite having had an upper respiratory infection that kept him out of practice two days this week.
