Pittsburgh Penguins (38-23-9) and the Philadelphia Flyers (34-27-8) meet on Sunday evening at the PPG Paints Arena in the Battle of Keystone State.
The Penguins were in action on the road at the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday evening and on home-ice against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday morning. Their last result before those encounters saw them recover from a 2-0 deficit at the midpoint of the game to win 5-3 on home-ice against the Washington Capitals on Tuesday evening.
The Penguins are averaging 3.42 Goals per Game, which places them 5th in the overall NHL standings. Defensively they are allowing 3.01 Goals per Game (17th overall). Jake Guentzel has scored 34 goals for the Penguins, while the legendary Sidney Crosby has contributed 57 assists.
The Flyers were also scheduled to face the Capitals themselves on Thursday evening and were on the road at the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday evening. Prior to those games, they were last on the ice at home to the Ottawa Senators on Monday evening, in which they recorded a 3-2 win.
As things stand the Flyers are averaging 3.04 Goals per Game (11th overall), while defensively they are allowing 3.29 Goals per Game (26th overall). Sean Couturier has 28 goals for the Flyers to date, while Claude Giroux has provided 53 assists.
With regards to NHL predictions, although the Flyers` results have improved considerably in recent weeks (to the extent that they are now playoff contenders) and the Penguins are not the force they once were, there is still sufficient quality on the roster of the Penguins to make them worthy favourites for this game on home-ice. They are therefore the tips on the Money Line odds to win this game.
