The Pittsburgh Penguins (43-26-11) meet the New York Rangers (31-35-13) at PPG Paints Arena on Saturday evening.
The Penguins could well go into their final game of the regular season needing to win it if they are to secure an automatic playoff spot without having to rely on a Wild Card, although if results go their way, a win on home-ice against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday evening may prove to be enough. Beating the Red Wings isn’t guaranteed though, as the Penguins lost the reverse fixture 4-1 on the road in Detroit on Tuesday evening.
The Penguins are averaging 3.30 Goals per Game, which leaves them tied 6th in the overall NHL standings. Defensively they are allowing 2.91 Goals per Game (14th overall). Jake Guentzel has scored on 38 occasions this season, while Sidney Crosby has provided 62 assists.
The playoffs have long been out of reach for the Rangers, so they will only be playing for little more than pride here. The Rangers also had games on home-ice on Wednesday and Friday evenings against the Ottawa Senators and Columbus Blue Jackets respectively before travelling to Pittsburgh. Their last result was a 4-2 loss on the road at the New Jersey Devils on Monday evening.
The Rangers are averaging 2.71 Goals per Game (23rd overall), while allowing 3.27 Goals per Game defensively (24th overall). Mika Zibanejad leads the way for the Rangers in terms of both goals and assists, with 30 and 42 respectively.
Taking all the factors into consideration, any betting predictions have to favour the Penguins here, so they are the tips on the Money Line odds.
