Could it possibly happen again? Could Nick Foles come off the bench late in the season to lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl? He will have to get them past the Saints first. But that may not be as hard as one would think.
The Saints were known during the regular season for their stifling run defence and all-around solid offence. Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara are a deadly duo, and there are few (if any) that can throw the ball like Drew Brees can.
The Eagles run defence is good enough to slow down the Saints run game. But Drew Brees will be able to throw on their patchwork secondary and put up some points. That means Foles is going to need to do the same against the Saints defence.
He will not be able to run against the Saints D, but he will have some success throwing. While the Saints defence has been tough against the run, they have been weak against the pass (29th).
So—who’s going to win?
As fun as it would be to say the Eagles, Foles will not have enough magic in his arm to get the job done this time. It will not be shocking if he has a 400+ yard day (as will Brees). But what will do him and the Eagles in will be turnovers.
Turnovers will help the Saints get the stops that they will need. So, take the Saints to win but not to cover the spread. Foles will keep the Eagles close.
- Spread: Saints by 8
- Over/Under: 50.5
- Money line: Eagles +290; Saints -385
As for the over/under—take the over.
