Packers vs. Seahawks Match Preview & Betting Odds 2018/19

Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers are two of the best quarterbacks in the business.  For years, fans have been saying the same thing about both—if only he had a running game that could help him out a little. If last week is any indication, the run game is not an issue for either squad now.

Aaron Jones had a breakout game against the Miami Dolphins with 145 yards on the ground (15 carries). For the Seahawks, it was more of a committee approach with Rashaad Penny, Russell Wilson, and Mike Davis combining for 258 yards.

The best way to beat a quarterback like Wilson or Rodgers is not to let them see the field. However, neither team is great at defending against the run (Seattle—17th; Green Bay—20th). Both may need to get a little help from their respective passing games to get the other’s defence to back off.

Rodgers may be without a couple of guys Thursday night, but the Packers have a lot of depth at wide receiver. Wilson doesn’t have as many options as Rodgers, but the ones he has are pretty good. But both teams have top-ten pass defences (Seattle—No. 4; Green Bay—No. 8).

So—who’s going to win?

This one appears to be as evenly matched as a game can get. Green Bay’s defence had a couple of guys leave with injuries against the Dolphins. It remains to be seen if they will play. In the end, this will be a close game.

Take the Packers (+123) to win over the Seahawks (-145). If the Packers don’t win straight up, they will against the spread (+2). A for the over/under—take the under (49.5).
