The Ottawa Senators (15-21-4) meet the Vancouver Canucks (19-19-4) on Wednesday evening at the Canadian Tire Centre.
The Senators have lost their last five games going into their meeting with the Canucks, with their last loss being a 6-3 defeat on the road at the Columbus Blue Jackets on New Year’s Eve.
The Senators are currently averaging a perfectly respectable 3.15 Goals per Game, which leaves them tied 11th in the standings. Defensively they are somewhat less impressive, allowing a fairly alarming 3.98 Goals per Game which places them, not unsurprisingly, 31st and last in the current overall NHL standings.
On an individual basis, Mark Stone has 18 goals to date, while Thomas Chabot has provided 28 assists.
The Canucks lost 4-0 on the road at the New Jersey Devils on New Year’s Eve, but their recent form has been impressive, with eight wins in 11 games prior to that.
The Canucks are currently averaging 2.93 Goals per Game, which puts them in 17th position in the overall NHL standings. Defensively they are allowing 3.12 Goals per Game, which leaves them 21st in the overall standings. On an individual player basis, Elias Pettersson is the main source of both goals and assists for the Canucks, with 19 and 20 respectively.
Despite the loss to the Devils on New Year’s Eve, the Canucks are the form team in this game and our NHL predictions have to favour them as a result. On that basis, backing the Canucks on the Money Line betting odds has to be the best bet in this game.
