Oleksandr Usyk (16-0-0) fights Tyrone “King of the Ring” Spong (14-0-0) in a Heavyweight bout between two boxers boasting 100% records at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago on Saturday night.
Usyk will be making his debut at heavyweight after becoming the first fighter to hold all four major world championships at cruiserweight.
At stake for the winner of this fight is potentially a shot at the winner of the Andy Ruiz Jr. vs Anthony Joshua rematch.
The 32 year-old Ukrainian was last in action last November, when he ended Tony “The Bomber” Bellew’s 10-fight winning streak with a straight left KO in the eighth round to send the Englishman into retirement.
The 34 year-old Surinam-born Spong moved into boxing in 2015 after a stellar career in kickboxing which ended in an incredible record of 91-7-1. He comes into this fight off the back of a second round KO of Ecuador’s Jeyson Minda just over a month ago. It was the 13th knockout win of Spong’s 14-fight career to date.
Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyrone Spong Betting Lines & Prediction
When it comes to our boxing predictions for this one, Oleksandr Usyk possesses the greater technique, movement and general ring-craft to make him an overwhelming favourite to win.
It would seem that Spong’s only genuine hope here is with a KO, but the Ukrainian should be capable of avoiding that.
As yet there are no betting odds available for the ‘Method of Victory’ market, but Usyk to Win by Decision or Technical Decision should be available at around +500 (6.00) and provides far better value as a tip for those backing Usyk.
