Both players have won one and lost one of their round-robin group matches to date, with the Austrian Dominic Thiem beating each of them to secure his place in the semi-finals.
On Tuesday, Thiem won a thrilling match against Djokovic, 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 7-6 (7-5), while Federer kept his hopes alive with a 7-6 (7-2) 6-3 win over Italy’s Matteo Berrettini.
There’s not a great deal to choose between the 16-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic and his 20-time Grand Slam winning rival Federer in the career head-to-head record, with Djokovic leading 26-22. However, the Serb has won each of the last four meetings and nine of the past 11.
They last faced each other in what was a truly epic Wimbledon final in July, with Djokovic eventually coming through to win 7-6 (7-5) 1-6 7-6 (7-4) 4-6 13-12.
Novak Djokovic vs Roger Federer Betting Lines & Predictions
Neither player is likely to go down without a fight here either, but when it comes to our ATP Finals 2019 predictions you have to take into account the fact that Novak Djokovic has had the upper hand in recent meetings.
Our betting tip though is for at least one set, in what looks almost certain to be a fiercely competitive match, to go to a tie-break. In the ‘Total Number of Tie-breaks’ market Over 0.5 (i.e. even one tie-break in the match would be a winning bet) can be backed at odds of +115 (2.15) with 888Sport.
