Madison Square Garden is the venue for the Monday evening clash between the New York Rangers (8-7-2) and the Vancouver Canucks (10-6-2) in a game featuring two in-form teams.
The Rangers come into this game on the back of a 5-4 OT win on the road at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday evening, where Jimmy Vesey was the hero of the hour for the Rangers with both the equalizing goal and the OT winner.
The Rangers are not the most prolific scorers, with them only averaging 2.71 Goals per Game to leave them 25th in the overall NHL standings.
They are currently allowing 3.18 Goals per Game defensively, which leaves them 20th overall in those rankings.
On an individual basis, the Rangers leading scorer this season to date is the eight-goal Chris Kreisler. With regards to assists, Kevin Hayes and Mika Zibanejad have each contributed eight. The Canucks were on the road at the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday afternoon where they went down to a 4-3 loss in OT, despite having been leading 3-1 late in late in the 3rd period.
Despite losing to the Sabres, the Canucks were (against most tipster predictions) leading the Pacific Division at the time of writing.
With an average of 3.28 Goals per Game, the Canucks are currently 12th in the overall NHL rankings. Defensively they are allowing 3.33 Goals per Game, which leaves them 23rd overall.
At present, the leading individual scorer for the Canucks is Elias Pettersson with 10 goals, while topping their assists on eight is Nikolay Goldobin.
The Rangers have won five of their last six games so, with the advantage of home-ice, they look worthy bookies favourites on the Money Line odds and are therefore our NHL tip to take the points here.
Pick: Money Line – New York Rangers -130 (William Hill)
