Montreal Canadiens vs Toronto Maple Leafs Prediction & Betting Odds - NHL Preview

The Montreal Canadiens (4-3-2) meet the Toronto Maple Leafs (5-4-2) in the oldest rivalry in NHL history at the Bell Centre on Saturday evening.

The Canadiens need to step up as they faced the San Jose Sharks on home-ice on Thursday evening where they suffered a 4-2 loss, with their game prior to that being another 4-3 loss on the road at the Minnesota Wild last Sunday.

Going into Thursday’s game, the Canadiens had a Goals per Game (GPG) average of 3.67, with their Goals Against per Game (GAPG) at 3.22. Brendan Gallagher leads the way for Montreal with four goals and nine points, while Max Domi has registered six assists.

The Maple Leafs meet the Sharks themselves on home-ice at the Scotiabank Arena on Friday evening, where they will be looking to break a two-game losing streak after a home-ice 4-3 OT defeat to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday and a 4-2 loss on the road at the Boston Bruins on Tuesday.

Prior to Friday’s game, the Maples Leafs have a GPG average of 3.64, while their GAPG is 3.45. Auston Matthews has eight goals for Toronto, while Mitch Marner has recorded nine assists and 12 points in total.

Montreal Canadiens vs Toronto Maple Leafs Betting Lines & Prediction

Fierce rivalries always make NHL predictions much more difficult, but the Canadiens have the home-ice advantage and have an extra day to prepare for this game. In a game between two teams struggling for any consistency this season, that’s enough to swing it in favour of Montreal as our tips.

The NHL bookies can barely split these two teams on the Moneyline betting odds which will become available after Friday night’s game in Toronto.
