The Montreal Canadiens (4-1-2) meet the Calgary Flames (5-3-0) face each other at the Bell Centre on Tuesday evening.
Both teams have made very respectable starts to the new hockey season, although the Habs did go down to a 4-3 OT loss away to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night, which ended their three-game winning run. What was particularly disappointing for the Habs is that they had led the Senators 2-0 and 3-1 during the game.
The Canadiens are averaging a healthy 32.9 Shots per Game, leaving them 11th in the overall standings, while allowing just 27.4 Shots per Game at the other end (an even more impressive 26th place overall). Paul Byron leads the way for the Habs with seven points, having scored four goals and provided three assists.
The Flames come into this game on the back of an impressive 4-1 win from their trip to Madison Square Garden on Sunday evening against the New York Rangers, with Johnny Gaudreau and Garnet Hathaway scoring two goals apiece. Gaudreau now has 12 points in total this season for the Flames, consisting of lighting the lamp on five occasions and seven assists.
The Flames are averaging 32.0 Shots per Game (12th overall) and allowing 30.8 Shots per Game (18th overall).
The Money Line odds indicate that there is little to choose between the teams, with the Flames being narrow favourites. With the Canadiens surpassing expectations to date and the Flames looking to have an edge in terms of attacking quality, it’s the Flames who are our NHL betting tip here.
