Miguel “El Alacran” Berchelt (36-1-0) meets Jason “El Canito” Sosa (23-3-4), with the Mexican putting his WBC super featherweight title on the line at Dignity Health Sports Park, in Carson, California, on Saturday night.
Big-punching Berchelt has recorded 32 knockouts in his 36 wins and the 27 year-old is making the sixth defence of the title he won in 2017 by beating Francisco “El Bandido” Vargas.
To date, he’s successfully defended his title against Takashi Miura, Maxwell Awuku, Jonathan Victor Barros, Miguel ‘Mickey’ Roman and Vargas. The rematch with Vargas ended with Berchelt stopping the ex-champion in six rounds with an impressive performance.
The 31 year-old American Jason Sosa has registered three straight wins following back to back losses to Vasiliy Lomachenko and Yuriorkis Gamboa in 2017. In truth, Sosa looked a little outclassed against both Lomachenko and Gamboa. His three victories since have been against Haskell Lydell Rhodes, Moises Delgadillo and Reynaldo Blanco who are all relative journeymen and not at the same level as Berchelt.
Sosa is himself a former WBA world champion (beating Javier Fortuna of the Dominican Republic for the title in June 2016) and he’s a fighter who always looks to be on the front foot and possesses a good left hook.
Miguel Berchelt vs Jason Sosa Betting Lines & Prediction
Berchelt is a very short odds bookies favourite to win this fight and it’s difficult to see past him being victorious with regards to boxing predictions. In the Fight Result betting lines, Berchelt is -3300 (1.03) with bet365, with the draw at +2500 (26.0) with Betway Sports and the betting line on Sosa is at +1000 (11.0) also at Betway.
Those boxing betting odds are not attractive for Berchelt, so our advice is to look at the ‘Method of Victory’ betting market and to back Berchelt to win by KO TKO or Disqualification which is available at -500 (1.20) with bet365. This is still a fairly short price so perhaps one to include in your Parlay bets.
