Tip: Ortega @ 11/10 with William Hill
UFC 231 delivers a potential Featherweight title fight for the ages when Max Holloway defends his belt against Brian Ortega. It’s been a long time in the making and would have taken place earlier in the year if it weren’t for issues with Holloway’s health. Sporting concussion-like symptoms three days before their July 7th bout, Holloway was pulled out of the fight.
Now we’re on the brink of getting a fight that UFC fans have been salivating for but there are question marks about the champ’s condition. It was the latest in a long line of injuries for Holloway.
Renowned for the intensity he brings to fights, Holloway may struggle to deliver that same tempo in this fight and if that turns out to be the case then he’s in trouble. Holloway is one of the greatest featherweights in UFC history but a defeat against the unbeaten Ortega could signal a changing of the guard.
If you fancy Holloway then Sky Bet offer him at 5/2 to win by KO, TKO or disqualification. But beware the might of might of his Californian opponent.
Ortega’s extraordinary guillotine submission on Cub Swanson showed that he is a beast that can destroy opponents given even the smallest of opportunities. Joe Rogan calls Ortega ‘a killer on the ground’ but the jiu-jitsu master doesn’t need to get opponents on the floor.
If he can’t take Holloway down then he will simply wrap himself around the Hawaiian where he stands. His recent victory against Frankie Edgar shows he’s a handy striker too. We suggest using your free bet to back Ortega to win the title. William Hill is offering 11/10 on him winning the fight.
