The Vikings offence has been coming together in recent weeks, just not last week against the Saints. To be fair, the Saints have become one of the better defensive teams in the league. But the Vikings are supposed to be one of the better offences. But mistakes and poor play in the second half cost them.
Now, the Saints are good enough to exploit mistakes. The same can’t be said about the Lions. Matthew Stafford is still capable of throwing for 300 yards on any given Sunday. But the inability to run the ball makes the Lions offence predictable and easier to defend.
Couple that with the Lions inability to defend against the run, and you have the recipe for another loss. To be fair, the Vikings are not a great running team. But they have shown the ability to move the ball on the ground in recent weeks.
So—who’s going to win?
Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota offence is getting better with each week. Cousins is, of course, fortunate to have one of the best wide receiver tandems in the game to work within Adam Thielen and Stephon Diggs. The running game has been iffy at times. But in recent weeks, they appear to be figuring it out.
The Vikings will lean hard on Latavius Murray this week.
The game will be closer than Vikings fans would like, but in the end, take the Vikings (-225) to win over the Lions (+185). However, it would not be shocking for the Vikings to let off the gas in the second half and fail to cover the spread (7).
As for the over/under—take the under (51).
