Just a few weeks ago, the Knicks (8-17) surprised the world with a 117-109 win over the Celtics (13-10). Boston was struggling at the time. But if recent games are any indication, they are not struggling now. The offence appears to be clicking, and the defence isn’t looking half bad either.
They have won three in a row with a margin of victory of 17, 33, and nine points.
Gordon Hayward appears to be getting closer to regaining his form. The team is also expecting to have Jaylen Brown available off the bench.
New York will enter the game having lost three of their last four. But the one win was impressive, 136-134 in overtime over the Milwaukee Bucks. The potential is there, but head coach David Fizdale doesn’t have a go-to guy right now.
Spread: Celtics by 12.5
New York won by eight when these two played a few weeks ago. But the Celtics didn’t have their act together, and they do now. They appear to be on track now, but the Knicks are not playing too bad, either.
With that in mind, 12.5 points seems a bit steep. Take the Knicks and the points.
Both teams have had their issues on offence this season but have been scoring well of late. Boston has averaged over 120 points in their last three while the Knicks have averaged 110. Take the over.
Money line: Knicks +650.00; Celtics -1000.00
The Knicks have some talent on the roster and a head coach that is highly regarded. He is doing a good job getting the most out of his roster, but this time, it isn’t going to be enough. Take the Celtics to win.
