Keith “One Time” Thurman (29-0-0) puts his WBA super world welterweight title on the line against Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao (61-7-2) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Thurman has an unbeaten record, with 22 knockouts from his 29 fights to date. Thurman has been nursing injuries (initially following surgery on his right elbow, then it was reported that Thurman suffered a deep bruise to his left hand) since becoming the unified welterweight world champion after beating Danny Garcia on a Split Decision in March 2017.
His only fight since then came in January, when he was somewhat unconvincing in a Majority Decision victory over Josesito Lopez in which he was rocked in the seventh round.
The 40 year-old Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao is an eight-division world champion, who appears to have rediscovered his form after suffering a shock (and some maintain controversial) Unanimous Decision loss to the Australian Jeff Horn in July 2017. He has since gone on to beat Argentina’s Lucas Matthysse by a seventh round TKO and the American Adrien Broner by Unanimous Decision.

In terms of boxing predictions for this fight, much will depend on what shape Keith Thurman is in with regards to his sharpness and timing after a lengthy lay-off, followed by a less than convincing return. Despite his advancing years, Manny Pacquiao’s hand speed and reflexes are still incredible and they could be the difference here.
On recent form and performances, Manny Pacquiao has to be the tip to win this fight, although it may well go the distance and a win for Keith Thurman is certainly not out of the question.
