Tip: Dos Santos @ 8/11 with Betway.
Tai Tuivasa doesn’t want to fight any bums. The Australian, whose fighting style bears a resemblance to his UFC peer Mark Hunt, has enjoyed a quick rise in the UFC and can silence any sceptics by winning his next match. It’s the toughest test of his career, one he’s been gunning for. Junior dos Santos, a former heavyweight champ, awaits at Fight Night 142.
And while Tuivasa will have the home advantage, Dos Santos is the deserved favourite. The big Brazilian has endured a fluctuating few years in the UFC with four defeats in his last seven matches but his pedigree cannot be dismissed. While Tuivasa is more of a brawler, Dos Santos can illuminate a fight with his technical ability, catching out opponents with spinning kicks.
A win would do plenty for Tuivasa’s career, certainly more so than Dos Santos’s. The veteran would need to go on a consistent run before being spoken about as a title contender again. Coming off the back of a testing battle with Blagoy Ivanov, victory over Tuivasa would make it two on the trot for Dos Santos and put him back on the path to challenge once more.
Tuivasa, unbeaten in his eight professional fights, is a tempting bet at 13/8 with Coral. A packed punch could easily unsettle Dos Santos, such is the nature of the division. But we fancy the older fighter to win this one. You can back him to win @ 8/11 with Betway.
