It’s Jim “A-10” Miller (30-13-0-1NC) vs Clay “The Carpenter” Guida (35-18-0) in a lightweight bout that’s the co-main event at the ‘UFC on ESPN 5’ event the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday evening.
This fight is a lightweight battle between two of the fight game’s most seasoned veterans, neither of whom has been able to maintain the form shown earlier in their careers over recent years. It seems strange that, despite their respective lengthy histories in the octagon, these two have never previously fought each other.
Jim Miller saw off Jason Gonzalez with a rear naked choke after 2:12 of Round 1 of his last fight in April, but prior to that he had lost five of his last six fights.
The soon-to-be 36 “A10” has clearly struggled in the last few years and is unquestionably in the twilight of his career, but certainly can’t be discounted.
Clay Guida, now aged 37, is coming into this bout on the back of a unanimous decision win over former champion, BJ Penn in May of this year. Like Miller, his record in recent years is decidedly mixed though.
Jim Miller vs Clay Guida Betting Lines & Predictions
At this stage of their respective careers, this is a difficult fight for UFC predictions. Jim Miller has a slight edge in terms of height, reach and has a better strike rate. However, Clay Guida looks to have more gas in his tank these days and, on that basis, he could have the advantage the longer the fight goes. Despite being the underdog, Guida is our betting prediction to win here.
