Jaime Munguia (32-0) defends his WBO junior middleweight title against the number one mandatory challenger Dennis “Hurricane” Hogan (28-1-1) at the Arena Monterrey, in Monterrey, Mexico on Saturday 13th April 2019.
The 22 year-old Mexican is set to move up to the 160 lb division to look for big fights against the likes of Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, former middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin and Danny Jacobs.
Munguia last fought three months ago, when he beat Takeshi Inoue by a clear unanimous decision in January at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
In his 32 fights to date, the unbeaten Munguia has registered 26 KOs. By comparison, Hogan has recorded just seven knockouts in 30 bouts.
The 34 year-old Australian simply doesn’t have the punching power to trade blows with Munguia and is unlikely to be able to stop him, even though the Mexican does have a tendency of sometimes leaving himself exposed to be hit.
Although Hogan has only lost once in his eight-year professional career, that defeat was to Jack Culcay who is really the only top level boxer he has come up against in their prime.
All the signs point to this being a seriously tough night for Hogan before a partisan Mexican crowd.
Jaime Munguia vs Dennis Hogan Lines & Pick
In terms of boxing betting predictions the sportsbooks only see one outcome, with the line on Munguia being set at -3300 at Betway Sports. Hogan can be backed at +1400 also with Betway.
There’s no value in backing Munguia at those odds, so a bet on the Round Group Betting could be a better option. Munguia to win between rounds 10 and 12 is +650 with bet365 and that looks a more attractive tip.
Pick: Round Group Betting – Jaime Munguia Round 10 to 12 @ +650 (bet365)
