This is a Group F tie, with host nation Australia and Germany the other teams that make up a seriously tough looking group, in which only the group winners are ensured a place in the quarter-finals.
The series between Greece and Canada will consist of three matches played over the course of the morning and afternoon, featuring two singles matches and one doubles.
The Greece team is comprised of world no. 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas, along with Michail Pervolarakis, Markos Kalovelonis, Petros Tsitsipas and Alexandros Skorilas.
There are some large Greek communities in Australia, so they will be able to count on some passionate and vocal support from the crowd in Brisbane. However, the Greeks look heavily reliant on Tsitsipas, whereas there’s greater depth on the Canadian team.
Canada also reached the final of the Davis Cup 2019 back in November, where they lost to host nation Spain, having beaten Italy, USA, Australia and Russia en route to the final.
The Canadian team looks the stronger, featuring as it does Denis Shapovalov, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Steven Diez, Adil Shamasdin and Peter Polansky.
Denis Shapovalov, in particular, had an excellent tournament for the Canadiens and they should take the belief from their performances in Spain through to the ATP Cup in Australia.
