Canada meet Germany in what will be the second game for both teams of the Classification Round at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center on Monday evening (local time).
The Classification Round is for the bottom two teams from each group in Round 1, with Germany and Canada having both finished 3rd in the group stage.
In their opening game of this stage, Germany secured an 89-78 win over Senegal. It’s been a disappointing tournament for the Germans, who came agonizingly close to qualifying for the second round, but lost narrowly to both France (78-74) and the Dominican Republic (70-68) in the group stage before comprehensively winning their final game against Jordan 96-62.
Canada started the Classification Round with an absolute thrashing of Jordan (126-71). In Round 1 they had the misfortune of being drawn in arguably the toughest group and lost to Australia (108-92) and Lithuania (92-69), before salvaging some pride with a straightforward win over Senegal (82-60).
