Germany take on Canada in Group B of the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship at the Ostravar Arena in the Czech Republic on Monday afternoon (local time).
There have already been some incredible IIHF 2020 results in Group B in this tournament, with the group outsiders Germany coming into this game on the back of a surprise 4-3 win against the Czech Republic on Saturday, with the host nation themselves having previously beaten one of the tournament favourites in Russia.
The German goals against the Czechs came from Lukas Reichel, John Peterka and two from Dominik Bokk, while Hendrik Hane made 27 saves.
It all looked to be running smoothly for the Canadians after they started the tournament with a 6-4 win over the USA, but they were given a harsh reality check on Saturday evening as they were on the receiving end of a 6-0 routing from Russia.
For Canada, Saturday’s defeat was their worst ever in World Junior Championship history. This game against Germany represents a big test of character.
Against the Russians, Nicolas Daws made 14 stops and conceded two goals for Canada, before being replaced. Joel Hofer made 20 saves and allowed two goals. Canada registered 28 shots in total, but rarely seriously threatened the Russian goal.
Germany U20 vs Canada U20 Betting Lines & Prediction
With regards to IIHF 2020 betting predictions for this game, Canada has to put the Russia result down to simply being a bad day at the office. It was the second successive game in which they have started slowly though, so they certainly have to improve there.
