On Monday December 31st, New Year’s Eve of 2018, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather will challenge Japanese Kickboxing star, Tenshin Nasukawa in a three round exhibition bout at the Saitama Super Arena, in Saitama, Japan.
Mayweather v Nasukawa betting odds have been revealed and the fight odds lines suggest that Mayweather is the man everyone will want to be betting on.
Floyd Mayweather – When Will Age Catch Up With Him?
Floyd Mayweather Jr is widely regarded as one of, if not the, finest boxers ever to grace the ring. Boasting a flawless 50-0 record during a career spanning over twenty years, Mayweather Jr has beaten a who’s who of world champions across five different weight divisions.
When he first started his professional boxing career, Mayweather was known as “Pretty Boy Floyd”. But as his name and notoriety gained momentum and he began to earn some serious money, that became his modus operandi and he quickly became “Money” Mayweather. His fight against British superstar Ricky Hatton all the way back in 2007 was the start of Mayweather starting to draw in some mouth-watering PPV numbers.
Since then, he has defeated Shane Mosley, Victor Ortiz, Miguel Cotto, Robert Guerrero, Canelo Alvarez, Marcos Maidana (twice), Andre Berto and the Notorious Conor McGregor, bringing his record to a perfect 50-0 with a TKO win over the MMA star in their 2017 bout.
The now 41-year old Floyd Mayweather is a master in tactical defence, being virtually impossible to hit cleanly. In short, he has taken very little damage through his career so he will have no problems against a young, inexperienced and considerably smaller opponent when he faces Nasukawa on New Year’s Eve in Japan.
One does wonder “when will age catch up with him?” and something will go wrong, but Mayweather isn’t showing any signs of slowing down just yet.
Tenshin Nasukawa – A New Combat World Star Waiting To Happen?
Tenshin Nasukawa may not be a well known name outside of Japan and Asia, but he is a bonafide superstar in Japan and a rising force in both the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and Kickboxing ranks. At just 20 years old, he has amassed an abundance of combat experience and he is unbeaten in twenty-seven kickboxing bouts, as well as four MMA fights as well.
Nasukawa’s style of fighting is based around Kickboxing and full contact Karate, which he developed at a young age and by the age of just 18, he held a 99-5 record at amateur level in that point scoring sport. A young man with big ambition, he’s keen to show he can compete at the highest level in boxing too, a point he highlighted with a win over former IBF Boxing champion, Amran Ruenroeng in the Knock Out Series in Tokyo back in 2016.

Tenshin Nasukawa has been gifted a real opportunity to show how talented he is in this Mayweather match. If he did happen to win or even show up promisingly, it could open the door for him to make his name on the International scene, so you can expect Nasukawa to train harder than he’s ever done before to ensure he is prepared to hurt Mayweather and show that he isn’t just there to make up the numbers.
The Japanese are a proud and long-standing fighting nation and Tenshin Nasukawa is one of the best naturally gifted fighters they have ever produced.
Floyd Mayweather vs Tenshin Nasukawa Betting Odds
The early Las Vegas Mayweather vs Nasukawa betting odds for the fight had Nasukawa in as the +150 underdog, with odds of +200 quoted elsewhere.
Floyd Mayweather was the early favourite at around the -260 mark, but we can expect those odds to shorten closer to fight time, now that the rules have been confirmed as full contact boxing, with no kicks allowed; which obviously favours the American in the Mayweather vs Nasukawa betting odds markets.
