With a win over the Eskimos this week, the Lions can wrap up a playoff berth. But this doesn’t mean the Eskimos are out. But it does mean that they need to win just as bad if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive. If they are going to do it, they will need the team to look a lot like it did last week.
Mike Reilly had been going through a rough stretch but bounced back last week with 369 yards passing and a touchdown. But what really did the trick for the Eskimos was a dominant defensive effort that saw them shutout the Redblacks in the second half.
It will help if Reilly can get the run game going as well. Last week, he and C.J. Gable combined for 159 yards against the Redblacks. With BC’s run defence currently ranked second to last in the league, the Eskimos will likely try to run the ball a fair amount.
But Edmonton may have to worry more about BC’s new found run game. The Lions had been one of the lesser running teams in the league. But with the addition of Tyrell Sutton, they had a solid run game against Calgary (Sutton had 106 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries).
So—who’s going to win?
BC used their defence to get a win over the Eskimos earlier this season and will likely try to do so again this week. They’ll also try to make use of Sutton with hopes they can keep Mike Reilly on the sideline. If they can, they stand a good chance of walking away with the win.
Look for them to do just that.
Take the Lions (-125) to win over the Eskimos (+105) and cover the spread (1). As for the over/under—go with the under (53).
