Dominick “The Devastator” Reyes (11-0-0) fights Chris “All American” Weidman (14-4-0) in a Light Heavyweight bout at TD Garden in Boston on Saturday night.
Reyes, a 29 year-old Californian, has an unblemished record to date, having already beaten the likes of Ovince Saint Preux, Jared Cannonier and Volkan Oezdemir (whom he beat on a Split Decision in his last fight in March). This fight against former middleweight champion Weidman looks likely to be the toughest challenge of his career yet though.
The 35 year-old New Yorker Weidman is a hugely respected fighter, having held the UFC Middleweight title for over two years after stopping Anderson “The Spider” Silva to win the strap.
Weidman will be making his Light Heavyweight debut in this fight. He comes into this fight on the back of a loss to the Brazilian veteran Ronaldo “Jacaré” Souza in his last fight in front of his own fans in New York in November 2018.
Having won his first 13 fights in UFC, Weidman has now lost four of his last five bouts and he was stopped in each of them. It’s difficult not to come to the conclusion that this is a legend in decline.
Dominick Reyes vs Chris Weidman Betting Lines & Prediction
As for UFC bet predictions, recent results make it difficult to back Chris Weidman with any degree of confidence. Dominick Reyes should be capable of keeping Weidman at bay on the mat, but in terms of striking power and accuracy, “The Devastator” looks to have a distinct advantage here.
The latest UFC betting lines on the ‘Fight Result’ market favour Reyes, but he is not an overwhelming favourite at odds of -161 (1.62) with 888Sport.
The UFC betting line on the underdog Weidman is set at +138 (2.38) with bet365. Reyes is the tip to win this fight and potentially set himself up for a tilt at Jon Jones for the title.
