Danny “Swift” Garcia (34-2) fights Adrian “Tigre” Granados (20-6-2) on Saturday 20th April at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California for the vacant WBC “silver” welterweight title.
Garcia won the first 33 bouts of his professional career, but two losses in his last three fights have raised a few question marks. Garcia’s registered 20 KOs in those 34 victories to date.
Both men lost fights in the past 18 months to Shawn Porter. It was Granados who gave “Showtime” the more difficult fight though according to Porter himself, with both Granados and Garcia losing out to the WBC welterweight champion in unanimous decisions.
Danny Garcia vs Adrian Granados Betting Preview
Garcia’s only other loss in pro boxing came to Keith “One Time” Thurman in March 2017. It was another close bout, but Garcia still lost on a split decision. It seems that Garcia has struggled to recover from that loss ever since.
There’s an awful lot of talent currently challenging at the elite level of the 147-pound division, so Garcia needs to beat Granados if he is to remain a contender could find himself being frozen out at the top of the division.
Garcia has the advantage in terms of punching power in this fight and will be looking to jab his opponent should he stand on the outside.
Granados has 14 KOs in his 20 wins, but has never been knocked out himself. If he can follow Porter’s lead in taking the fight to the inside and throwing a lot of shots, he could cause some serious problems for Garcia.
