Daniel “Miracle Man” Jacobs (35-3-0) takes on Julio Cesar “JC Jr” Chavez Jr. (51-3-1) in a super middleweight contest at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday night.
Daniel Jacobs Form
The fight will see 32 year-old American Jacobs making his debut at the weight and will be his first time back in the ring since he lost his IBF middleweight title to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez by unanimous decision back in May.
Jacobs finished 12 opponents in succession inside the distance, but all of his last five fights have gone to a decision and two of those he has lost – to “Canelo” and back in 2017, to Gennady Golovkin.
Julio Cesar Chavez Form
The 33 year-old Mexican has lost three of his last eight bouts since a long reign as WBC middleweight title holder, but it shouldn’t be forgotten that he was unbeaten in his first 46 professional fights.
He’s another boxer to have been beaten by “Canelo”, losing by unanimous decision when the pair fought in May 2017. Chavez last fought in August, when he saw off the Colombian Evert Bravo with an early KO in the first round.
Daniel Jacobs vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Betting Lines & Prediction
Looking at boxing predictions for this fight, the big doubt surrounds Chavez Jr’s relative inactivity in the ring over the last few years. This fight isn’t without its controversy, with big question marks over Chavez Jr’s eligibility to fight after evading VADA drug tests.
In the Fight Result boxing betting lines, Jacobs is a frankly hugely unattractive -1667 (1.06) with 888sport, with the draw at +2500 (26.00) at Betway and Chavez Jr. at +900 (10.00) with bet365.
Jacobs should win this, but the tip here is to wait for the ‘Method of Victory’ betting market to become available and then to back Jacobs to win by Decision or Technical Decision which should be around +120 (2.20).
