The 31 year-old Brazilian has looked to lack the cardio to go the distance in some of her fights since her title-bout loss to Joanna Jedrzejczyk, which suggests either a lack of conditioning or that she’s struggling to make the weight.
In her last fight, she beat Randa Markos on a unanimous decision back in July last year.
To win here, Gadelha may have to do her work in the opening half of the fight if her cardio is still an issue. ‘Claudinha’ does have outstanding takedown ability and is a master of jiu-jitsu, so if she does get on top, she will probably win.
The 26 year-old Mexican Alexa Grasso has lost three of her last five fights, including her last bout to Carla Esparza of the USA on a majority decision in September 2019.
Prior to that there was a unanimous decision win over Karolina Kowalkiewicz in June last year, but before that there was a submission loss to Tatiana Suarez in in May 2018 which is a concern against the Brazilian.
Grasso comes from a boxing background and throws good combinations, but she can struggle on the mat at times. Her best ploy could be to target Gadelha’s body with strikes to try and slow her down further.
