This is easily the most anticipated game of the season—the two most potent offences in the league facing off on Monday Night Football in Mexico City. The Rams lead in yardage gained (448.0/game) with the Chiefs not far behind in second place (423.1/game). But the Chiefs lead in the more important category— points scored per game (35.3 to 33.5).
From an offensive standpoint, the amount of firepower that will be on the field is impressive, to say the least—at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver. The Rams lost Cooper Kupp to an ACL tear last week, but with their depth at receiver shouldn’t miss a beat.
However, defensively, while there are good things to say about both teams, they both leave something to be desired. The Rams are No. 23 and the Chiefs No. 31 in yards allowed. But both tend to bend more than they break. The Rams are giving up 23.1 points/game (No. 12 in the league) while the Chiefs are giving up 24.0 per game (tied for 16th).
While the Chiefs defence has been much maligned this season, the pass rush has quietly become one of the best in the league. With five sacks on Josh Rosen last week, they moved into a tied for first in the league in sacks with 31. The Rams are tied for ninth with 26.
So—who’s going to win?
It will be a very close game, with the winner quite possibly being whoever has the ball last. Take the Rams (-135.14) to win over the Chiefs (+115), straight up and against the spread (-2.5). As for the over/under—as crazy as it may sound, take the over (63.5).
