The Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs meet at the United Center on Sunday evening.
The Blackhawks have crowned Stanley Cup champions as recently as 2015, but you would struggle to find too many NHL predictions expecting them to replicate that success this season.
Having finished at the foot of the Central Division last season and with the odds in the Futures market expecting more of the same this time, even qualifying for the postseason would be considered a successful season. There is quality on the roster in the likes of Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, but the overall quality is lacking.
The Maple Leafs required an overtime goal from Auston Matthews to ensure a winning start to the season against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night. Nonetheless, it’s two points on the board and it can’t hurt that in addition to two goals from Matthews, there was also a debut goal for John Tavares.
The Maple Leafs are considered strong Stanley Cup title contenders, so trips to the likes of Chicago are the games they will be expected to be a win. They certainly have to be the tips here given their greater quality.
