The Chicago Blackhawks (5-2-2) and Edmonton Oilers (3-3-1) meet at the United Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Blackhawks faced games at home to the New York Rangers on Thursday evening and on the road at the St. Louis Blues on Saturday evening prior to the Oilers. On Tuesday the Blackhawks beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-1 on home-ice, with two goals from Brandon Saad and another from Patrick Kane to secure the points.
The Blackhawks are certainly a team to watch for goals this season, having an identical Goals per Game averages for scoring and conceding of 3.67, which leaves them fifth in both the attacking and defensive stats overall.
It’s been a mixed start to the season for the Oilers, although they have had some very tough early fixtures in their schedule. The Oilers faced two incredibly tough looking games prior to travelling to Chicago, with the Washington Capitals on home-ice on Thursday night, followed by a road trip to the Nashville Predators on Saturday afternoon.
The Oilers lost their previous two games, a 3-0 on home-ice in the reverse fixture against the aforementioned Predators on Saturday and then 6-5 in OT in a game that switched leads several times against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Rogers Place.
The Oilers currently have a Goals per Game average of just 2.57 as things stand, while allowing 3.57 at the other end. That should change for the better once they get an easier run of games.
This is a very difficult game for NHL predictions, but the Oilers might be worth a look on the Money Line odds here, so we’ll back them as our tips.
