The season didn’t start like how the Buffalo Bills or Los Angeles Chargers wanted it to in Week One. But while things are still looking good in Los Angeles, it is looking pretty bleak in Buffalo. Nathan Peterman was awful, but Josh Allen really didn’t do anything that would warrant taking the job from him (but it appears that he is going to start).
Bills head coach Sean McDermott says the team is going to “evaluate where we are.” Where they are is stuck between a rock and a hard place. They should never have traded A.J. McCarron before they knew what they had in Peterman and Allen.
But they did, and now they are stuck—which means the defense they face will be a good start every week in fantasy play.
As for the Chargers, their defense was hit pretty hard by the Kansas City Chiefs last week. But it is hard to see the Bills offense doing the same—or anything for that matter. Patrick Mahomes is one of the better young quarterbacks in the game. Peterman and Allen are projects at best.
If LeSean McCoy can come alive, they may stand a chance. But with the offensive line he has, it is unlikely he does.
Unless they do something drastic, it is going to be a long season for the Bills. The loss to the Ravens was the second-worst in team history. It will not be surprising if this one is even worse. Take the Chargers to win, cover the spread, and score enough on their own to cover the over.
