Last weekend’s slate of action had the possibility of answering a lot of playoff questions for CFL fans. Most of them did get answered. But the one question that didn’t was the one most expected to get answered.  Who is going to win the West Division?

For most of the season, it has looked like Calgary’s division to lose, and it appears they may be dead set on doing just that. All they have had to do the last couple weekends was win to lock up the top seed in the West and home-field advantage in the postseason.

But then a loss to the BC Lions a few weeks ago was followed up with a loss to the Roughriders a couple of weeks ago. That was followed up with a third loss in a row last weekend, this time at the hands of the suddenly-hot Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

However, while Calgary fans should be concerned, all is not lost yet. They can still win the division. All they have to do is go on the road and beat the BC Lions this weekend. The Lions are 7-1 in home games this season.

It should be a great game but, at the same time, it might not be. BC doesn’t gain anything by beating a very motivated opponent. No matter what the outcome is, they are already locked into the crossover spot. They’ll be playing the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the East semifinals.
