In recent weeks, many of the CFL’ s better teams have not looked like the dominant team their fan bases had come to know and love. Even if they won, in many cases, they still looked vulnerable. The last thing you want to do late in the season is give a team fighting for its playoff life a reason for hope.
Heading into Week 16, there were a few teams that thought they might be able to gain some ground by beating one of the better teams in the league. But those better teams had a different idea in mind. They decided it was time to remind the rest of the league that they mean business.
Calgary easily dispatched Toronto, 38-16. Hamilton defeated the BC Lions with ease, 40-10. Winnipeg downed the Eskimos, 30-3. The only close game came as somewhat of a surprise. Johnny Manziel nearly led Montreal to a win over the Roughriders, but Saskatchewan escaped with a win, 34-29.
However, the thing about making a statement with a big win is it means nothing if you can’t follow it up with another win the preceding weekend. Of course, the teams that were on the wrong end of last weeks statement wins will be looking for a little redemption.
Can the BC Lions keep their playoff hopes alive with a win over Toronto? Is it possible Johnny Manziel can lead the Alouettes to a big win over Calgary (who has already locked up the West Division)? Can the Eskimos find redemption with a much-needed win over the Blue Bombers?
Take a look at our previews and predictions and well tell you who we think will win.
