Another week, another great slate of CFL action! Many teams were hoping for big games that would help them make a move in the standings. Some got the big games; some didn’t.
The BC Lions kept their postseason hopes alive with another dominant performance on defence. They absolutely dominated the line of scrimmage and ended up sacking Alouettes pivot Antonio Pipkin seven times and forcing four interceptions. Johnny Manziel wondered why he wasn’t playing heading into the game; he’ll probably not have to wonder heading into this week’s game.
Hamilton had been tearing up the league while the once-dominant Stampeders have been floundering somewhat. At first, it looked like Calgary might struggle again, but Bo Levi Mitchell righted the ship, and the Stampeders put the Tiger-Cats in their place.
With the Ticats losing, the Redblacks were able to reclaim sole possession of the division lead in the East with a nice win over Saskatchewan. Ottawa’s win brought the Roughriders four-game winning streak to an end.
This week brings a whole new slate of challenges for every team in the CFL. Can Ottawa keep the good times rolling against a very tough Edmonton team? Can Saskatchewan get back on track against Toronto? Can that dominant BC defence handle the high-powered Hamilton offence?
If the answers to those questions were easy, then it wouldn’t be nearly as much fun to watch the games. But if you are looking to do more than just watch, check out our game previews and predictions for Saturday’s triple-header!
