Spread: Celtics by 2

The Boston Celtics (9-7) are one of the teams surprising fans so far this season—but not in a good way. After making a deep run in the Eastern Conference playoffs last season without their superstars, this season was expected to be even better.
They have had some great performances like Friday night’s 123-116 win over the Toronto Raptors. However, they have also had absolute clunkers like the following night’s 98-86 loss to the Utah Jazz.
You would think the addition of Gordon Hayward to the lineup and the return of Kyrie Irving would make the team better. But even talented teams need time to gel and learn how to play together.
The Celtics will need to bring their ‘A’ game on defence Monday night against the Hornets (7-8). Charlotte has a superstar in the making in point guard Kemba Walker. When the Hornets last played on Friday night, he exploded for 60-points, the highest scoring game by a player this season (so far).
But Walker isn’t just a one-game wonder. He is second in the NBA in scoring with 28.7 points/game.
So—who’s going to win?
Kemba Walker is a force to be reckoned with—but so is Boston’s defence (when it works). Boston will go all out to stop him forcing Charlotte to lean more on the rest of the roster. The Hornets only have three other guys averaging over ten points a game.
Limit Walker and the Celtics win.
So, take the Celtics to win over the Hornets, straight up and against the spread. As for the over/under—both teams are capable of scoring some points. But it is hard to trust they will. Take the under.
